In this role, you will lead a team and support material planning and/or material coordination for a project. Planning involves providing work process and system expertise during the early project stages. Coordination will include communicating material availability, accuracy, and timeliness to the correct location. Your team will ensure the location receives the required materials to complete the project.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent, in Supply Chain or Business Administration related field is preferred; and minimum of 15 years’ experience in commercial and materials management aspects of the procurement of goods and/or services.
  • Experience and skill in supervision, including selection, hiring, training, development, and performance evaluation.
  • Advanced knowledge of all procurement operations related to the management of materials at area, regional, temporary, and jobsite office locations.
  • Advanced knowledge in Field Engineering and Construction activities, and knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures related to materials management functions.
  • Advanced knowledge of all Engineering disciplines, the work process and the deliverables produced.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable Bechtel policies, instructions, and Procurement procedures and guidelines.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of the Digital Supply Chain System, Engineering tools, and other project data systems.
  • Prior experience in major global, direct hire, and contract management projects, which include Engineering, Procurement, and materials control activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of lead materials coordination or planners on a large project or works within business line Supply Chain department in a functional role in a small to medium sized GBU.
  • Provides expertise, advice, and direction for project and field materials management activities to ensure the overall organizational effectiveness among all functions responsible for the materials management process.
  • Reviews the initial master schedule, detailed timing and sequence of each functional group, and actual progress of each group to confirm that materials meet required delivery dates.
  • Reviews any schedule revisions for impacts and participates in the development of contingency planning.
  • Interfaces between Construction and Supply Chain to identify, requisition, and establish delivery dates for material requirements resulting from design changes, rework, contingency/work arounds, scope changes, or materials missed in Engineering takeoffs.
  • Reviews plans at the jobsite for adequacy of material warehousing, maintenance, control, and handling.
  • Coordinates with Construction and Field Supply Chain the plans for material identification, material availability in support of installation plans, and equipment requiring special handling at the site.
  • Formulates specialized training and career development programs necessary to assure that all assigned material management personnel are properly trained and qualified.
