Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Three to six months on the job training.
• Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Physical ability commensurate with work requirement.
• Ability to lift heavy boxes (up to 50-60 pounds).
• Ability to walk and push/pull supply carts to various areas of the hospital to pick up/deliver supplies and materials.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity to sort and deliver items accurately.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Good organizational skills.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to provide assistance in response to problems.
• Computer skills necessary.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for shipping/receiving all incoming/outgoing deliveries to and from the hospital.
• Inputs all incoming/outgoing items into the computer.
• Documents all necessary transactions and files according to department standards.
• Reports any problems with shipping/receiving, distribution to management.
• Determines destination of received items and ensures timely delivery.
• Keeps working area clean and neat.
• Monitors security of area.
• Complies with all customer service and process improvement philosophies. Understands and follows all hospital, health, human relations, federal, state and local safety, personnel and departmental policies, procedures, laws and guidelines.
