About The Position

The Materials Handler 1 is responsible for packaging material into bags and sacks according to customer specifications, palletizing the packaged material, and storing it in the warehouse. This role also involves operating various equipment such as forklifts, bobcats, and motorized conveyors for loading and unloading freight, as well as bringing materials to the packaging machine. Additional duties include stenciling customer codes, performing daily equipment inspections, maintaining housekeeping, and processing bills of lading. The position requires wearing appropriate PPE and involves climbing stairs and mobile equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience within a plant environment (dust, dirt, all weather conditions, etc.)
• Complete safety, health, and task training
• Meet requirements for employment and position
• Read and use operator's manuals and fill out simple reports such as pre-shift inspection forms

Responsibilities

• Package material into 50 lb bags
• Package material into sacks per customer weight requirements
• Place packaged material onto pallets by hand
• Place packaged material in warehouse
• Operate forklift, bobcat, and motorized conveyor
• Load finished product onto customer trucks using forklift
• Unload inbound freight using forklift
• Bring material from storage bins to packaging machine
• Stencil customer code on bags or sacks
• Perform daily inspection of equipment
• Perform housekeeping duties
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Wear proper PPE
• Process bill of ladings
• Climb stairs to packaging machine
• Climb onto and off of mobile equipment
