Defense Logistics Agency•Elmendorf AFB, AK

About The Position

The Materials Examiner and Identifier receives, examines, and determines the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials. It visually inspects usable property, determines its acceptability, identifies reportability and special handling requirements, and assigns classification instructions for warehousing. The incumbent verifies demilitarization codes, challenges questionable items or codes, maintains segregated storage for property requiring demilitarization, and ensures required certification is attached to turn-in documents when demilitarization is performed by the host or generating activity. The role also performs special and periodic property inventories and re-palletizes or relocates property as needed. It operates forklifts and related materials-handling equipment to move, load, unload, stack, and unstack palletized materials, supplies, and equipment. The work involves warehouses and outdoor areas, potentially in varying weather conditions, and requires adherence to safety procedures and use of required personal protective equipment.
