About The Position

You will serve as a MATERIALS ENGINEER in the Materials Division, SEA 05P2 of NAVSEA HQ FIELD SUPPORT. You will hold the position of Subject Matter Expert for Nonmetallic Materials. You will develop, select, introduce, and provide life-cycle support of non-metallic materials for shipboard applications. You will develop and implement specifications, standards, guidance and other engineering documents that support non-metallic materials. You will coordinate with other technical and program authorities for requirements development and implementation. You will interface with communities to identify and prioritize efforts to advance understanding of non-metallic materials. You will represent NAVSEA 05 within and outside of the Department of Navy as SEA 05's subject matter expert on non-metallic materials. You will provide technical input into non-metallic material applications and processes.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • DAWIA certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • Must be able to travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band NH-03 (GS-13) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate managing complex systems developments and engineering systems to resolve challenges for naval structural integrity.
