About The Position

Keystone Powdered Metal Company, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a full-time Materials Engineer who will be working in our St. Marys, PA location. This person will report to the VP of Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent technical experience (minimum of 5 years) within the Powdered Metal Industry with emphasis on materials and processing.
  • Communication skills a must.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Work with all manufacturing facilities to troubleshoot /solve issues specifically relating to material concerns. Examples are part contamination issues, heat treat oil contamination and so forth.
  • Become the technical lead on Keystone’s Perk and Elmer Spectrometer.
  • Become the technical lead on specialized test equipment, such as: Part specific Impact Testing, Part specific Tensile Testing, Part specific MTS Testing for Fatigue.
  • Entering test results in MS Access or Excel and producing organized reports/charts.
  • Report results to supervision and offer tentative conclusions.
  • Develop an understanding of Keystone’s mixes, such as: Flow and Arnold Density of mixes, Pressure Density Curves of mixes, Density, Hardness, Break Strength, Carbon content and Microstructure of sample parts.
  • Develop an understanding of all Keystone’s heat treat processes and equipment to aid in troubleshooting. Such as: Processing: Dimensional change, hardness, case depth and case depth development, etc. Equipment: Endogas generators, furnaces, coils, power supplies, etc.
