About The Position

The Material Coordinator will oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of construction materials at the job site’s temporary warehouse. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role involves coordinating incoming deliveries from suppliers, managing pickups by subcontractors, and maintaining accurate inventory using material management software. The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, and adept at working in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in material coordination, warehouse management, or logistics, preferably in construction.
  • Proficiency in material management software.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with suppliers, subcontractors, and site staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, delivery schedules, and basic construction plans.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks in a warehouse environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Comply with company Motor Vehicle Policy.
  • Present professional image at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) a must.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications (including background check) of Cherokee Federal.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on school or public works projects is a plus.
  • Additional training in logistics, construction management, or related fields is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently and under pressure in a dynamic job site setting.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to OSHA and site-specific safety standards, ensuring safe material handling and warehouse operations.
  • Receive and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders, inspect materials for quality and quantity, and document discrepancies.
  • Communicate with suppliers to schedule deliveries and resolve issues related to timing, shortages, or material specifications.
  • Schedule and manage material pickups by subcontractors, ensuring accurate handoff, verification, and documentation.
  • Track and manage inventory using material management software. Monitor stock levels and report shortages or overages to the Project Manager.
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment to organize and store materials safely and efficiently in the temporary warehouse.
  • Maintain accurate records, including delivery receipts, pickup logs, and inventory reports.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and site team to align material availability with construction schedules.
  • Support the project team in administrative tasks as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
