About The Position

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Materials Control Manager at their Chesterfield, Michigan manufacturing facility. This role involves leading inventory control operations, strengthening material availability and supplier coordination, and developing the materials control team to support efficient manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and develop team members.
  • Sound judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt priorities and remain responsive in a rapidly changing manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with JDE or another ERP system used for operational efficiency and inventory data management.
  • Basic math proficiency for inventory management and reporting calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead materials control operations and determine material quantities needed to support master production scheduling and operational requirements.
  • Oversee and administer cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy, appropriate ordering, and reliable inventory levels.
  • Identify and resolve inventory and material supply issues by investigating root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Review trends across purchasing, materials management, suppliers, and storage to improve inventory operations and efficiency.
  • Support financial cost-containment efforts by minimizing inventory loss, conducting root-cause analysis, managing inventory turnover, and optimizing space requirements.
  • Represent the organization's inventory needs in supplier relationships and help maintain reliable material supply.
  • Supervise and mentor materials control staff, providing training and guidance to strengthen performance, efficiency, and professional development.
  • Use ERP systems to maintain accurate inventory data and reporting; partner with production, logistics, and quality teams; manage inbound inventory receipt and reconciliation; and develop or improve inventory management procedures and policies.
