Cates Control Systems is seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Materials Clerk to join our growing team in Webster, TX. Job Purpose: The Materials Clerk is responsible for maintaining organized inventory and warehouse operations while supporting production needs and ensuring timely movement of materials throughout the company. Candidates with prior warehouse, inventory, or logistics experience are encouraged to apply. Forklift experience is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1+ year of prior experience preferred
  • Forklift certification required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Time management and ability to prioritize tasks

  • Experience using ERP systems for inventory transactions
  • Ability to operate or be trained on a forklift and pallet jack
  • Ability to read a tape measure and operate basic shop tools (nail gun, chop saw)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Comfortable standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and handling materials throughout the workday

Responsibilities

  • Issue parts from inventory to jobs and pull parts for job kits and subassemblies
  • Put away received parts
  • Audit job buckets
  • Return unused parts to inventory and ensure proper transactions in ERP
  • Conduct cycle counts in coordination with the materials group.
  • Research and resolve inventory or job discrepancies.
  • Scan packing slips, job folders, and related documentation to the server
  • Assist with tracking and following up on late parts for jobs
  • Support production technicians with material requests and inventory needs
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are completed correctly within the ERP system
  • Safely operate a forklift to move materials throughout the warehouse
  • Assist with general warehouse upkeep, including trash and recycling removal
  • Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
