Materials Assistant - Inova Oakville ASC
About The Position
Inova Oakville Surgery Center in Alexandria, Virginia, is hiring an experienced, full-time Materials Assistant to support the center’s operations and patient care. The center is a newly established facility with three operating rooms, two procedure/GI suites, and 15 PreOp/PACU bays. The Materials Assistant receives and distributes supplies and equipment, checks deliveries against packing slips and purchase orders, and addresses discrepancies or merchandise problems. The role also includes entering items used during prior-day procedures, maintaining inventory levels, preparing and submitting supply orders, and conducting monthly physical inventory counts.
Requirements
- At least one year of previous work experience in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital setting.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new inventory system software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
Nice To Haves
- Operating room experience is strongly preferred.
- RN or CST knowledge is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Unpack and distribute supplies and equipment.
- Verify daily deliveries against packing slips and purchase orders, note back-orders, and notify appropriate individuals of discrepancies.
- Research and resolve problems involving damaged, missing, or incorrect merchandise.
- Enter items used from physician preference cards for procedures performed on prior days.
- Assist with maintaining par levels and restocking supplies as needed.
- Prepare supply re-order lists.
- Create purchase orders for supply reorders and send them to the appropriate vendor for processing.
- Perform monthly physical inventory counts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
