About The Position

The Materials & Processes Engineer will be part of the Advanced Structures & Systems team, focusing on the development and implementation of cutting-edge materials, surface treatments, and fabrication processes for high-performance aerospace structures. This role involves driving materials through production by applying expertise in chemistry, physics, and material behavior to create robust specifications, fabrication methods, and assembly processes. The engineer will collaborate closely with product development, analysis, and production operations teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (preferably in Material Science or Materials Engineering), or equivalent experience/combined education
  • Familiarity and a strong background in material manufacturing processes, material testing processes and procedures
  • Candidate MUST have the ability to travel and be willing to work off-sight as needed for assignments.
  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN
  • Requires the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering/Science
  • Experience with Materials and Processes associated with electronics assemblies and components
  • Experience working with full assemblies as well as subassemblies, down to components level
  • Experience supporting failure review boards and working towards corrective action
  • Familiarity with programs at MFC or experience working with US Govt DOD customers
  • Familiarity with evaluating and developing material and specifications
  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and team environment
  • Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating M&P support documentation, material plans, material and process reports, and potential proposals are necessary
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, 2-D drawings, CAD drawings and material callouts and/or material processing note

Responsibilities

  • Developing and optimizing materials and surface treatment solutions for engineering applications.
  • Performing failure analyses, life prediction modeling, and material property development to support reliability goals.
  • Authoring clear technical documentation and contributing data packages for design reviews and customer deliverables.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including product development, analysis groups, and production – to translate requirements into manufacturable solutions.
  • Generating and releasing engineering drawings and related documentation using Windchill and other PLM tools.
  • Supporting test planning, execution, and results interpretation to validate material performance.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practices across the organization.
