Materials Analyst, TEM
About The Position
The Advanced Microscopy team is looking for an experienced Materials Analyst with a background in operating and analyzing materials using TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy). This is a hands-on, production-focused role centered on supporting advanced materials and semiconductor analysis for clients across multiple industries. The successful candidate will be a strong technical contributor who thrives in a fast-paced lab environment, enjoys focused tool time, and values producing high-quality, site-specific results within defined client timelines. A typical day will consist of various activities, including: Obtaining bright field, high resolution, diffraction patterns, dark field TEM and HAADF STEM images of prepared samples Obtaining STEM/EDX and STEM/EELS spectra, line scans and maps Organizing data, prepare and deliver summary reports to customers Partnering with customers and team members to optimize experiments and explain results Developing TEM analysis protocols for new sample types
Requirements
- BS or MS only : Materials Science and Engineering or related field or equivalent industry experience
- Excellent operation and theory understanding of Transmission Electron Microscope
- Experience with TEM sample preparation and hard materials characterization
- Solid understanding of one or more areas of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics and failure analysis
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with aberration-correction TEM
- Familiarity with FEI Tecnai TEM/STEM, Oxford/Bruker EDS, Gatan EELS, Digital Micrograph
