About The Position

The Material Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, receiving raw materials and product into the ERP system, issuing appropriate materials to production, and storing and shipping according to customer requirements and PCI procedures. This role ensures compliance with Department of Homeland Security, OSHA, FDA, and other certification agency requirements. The position also focuses on maintaining a safe working environment, operating material handling equipment, and adhering to all company GMP and safety rules. A key responsibility is to ship orders accurately and in a timely manner. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

Requirements

Minimum High School education or equivalent.
Computer experience.
Forklift certification required.
Good verbal and written English skills.
Good reading comprehension.
Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

Operates forklift, clamp truck and man lift in a safe manner.
Charges and waters forklift batteries.
Loads and unloads trailers for shipments and receipts.
Utilizes ERP transactions for all receipts, movements, and issues of raw materials and packaging components.
Utilizes ERP transactions for all receipts, movements, staging, and shipping of customer orders, warehouse transfers, or customer returns.
Secures trailers with dock locks or wheel chocks before entering with a forklift and removes/unlocks them when loading/unloading is complete.
Installs and removes dock plates, opens and closes dock doors, and ensures they remain locked for security and safety reasons.
Labels, stretch wraps, stages, and ships orders in compliance with customer requirements and PCI procedures.
Repacks cartons as needed.
Performs cycle counts of machine locations each shift.
Receives railcars into the ERP system, unloads railcar resin into appropriate silos, and notifies Supervisor of issues or shortages.
Receives and unloads resin containers, pumps container resin into appropriate silos.
Notifies railroad (Norfolk Southern) of required changes in railcar line-up on siding.
Performs RTI’s for color, liner, and WIP caps returned to the warehouse from production.
Loads and unloads shuttle trailers and trailers to outside warehouses and other PCI facilities using appropriate transactions.
Prepares weekly inventory report for Purchasing.
Prints ship sets, bills of lading, and labels.
Calls designated carriers providing them with appropriate shipment information.
Handles Shipping Logistics.
Obtains control numbers for and performs RMA’s and PO receipts.
Responds to telephone queries, receives and sends fax information.
Takes part in fiscal year-end inventory audit preparation.
Responsible for following all Food Safety related policies and procedures.
Responsible for following all Safety Rules, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Performs duties that may be assigned.
