About The Position

The Material Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, receiving raw materials and product into the ERP system, issuing appropriate materials to production, and moving production and other items from the plant floor to designated areas. This role involves storing and shipping according to customer requirements and company procedures, while ensuring compliance with DHS, OSHA, FDA, and other certification agency requirements. The technician will maintain a safe working environment, operate material handling equipment, and follow all company GMP, Code of Conduct, and Safety Rules. A key aspect of the role is to ship orders completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years forklift experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operates forklift in a safe manner.
  • Charges and waters forklift batteries.
  • Loads and unloads trailers for shipments and receipts.
  • Utilizes ERP transactions for all receipts, movements, and issuance of raw materials and packaging components, staging, and shipping of customer orders, warehouse transfers, or customer returns.
  • Secures trailers with dock locks or wheel chocks before entering with a forklift and removes or unlocks when loading/unloading is complete.
  • Installs and removes dock plates, opens and closes dock doors, and ensures they remain locked for security and safety reasons.
  • Labels, stretch wraps, stages, and ships orders in compliance with customer requirements and company procedures.
  • Repacks cartons.
  • Cycles count machine locations each shift.
  • Checks hard allocation at the beginning and end of shift and notifies leadership of issues or shortages.
  • Performs RTI’s for color, liner, and WIP caps returned to the warehouse from production.
  • Loads and unloads shuttle trailers and trailers to outside warehouses and other company facilities using appropriate transactions.
  • Prepares weekly inventory report for Purchasing.
  • Prints ship sets, bills of lading, and labels.
  • Calls designated carriers, providing them with appropriate shipment information.
  • Performs RMA’s and PO receipts.
  • Responds to telephone queries, receives and sends fax information.
  • Makes production boxes using the box maker or tape gun; loads box maker with boxes.
  • Moves production from plant floor and loads onto trucks or places in designated warehouse location.
  • Discards scrap in bailer; changes bailer when full.
  • Maintains staging lanes using forklift.
  • Takes part in fiscal year-end inventory audit preparation.
  • Responsible for following all Food Safety related policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for following all Safety Rules, Code of Conduct policies, procedures and WI.
  • Performs duties that may be assigned.
