About The Position

The Material Technician-IA is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, receiving raw materials and product into the ERP system, issuing appropriate materials to production, and moving production and other items from the plant floor to designated areas. This role involves storing and shipping according to customer requirements and company procedures, while ensuring compliance with DHS, OSHA, FDA, and other certification agency requirements. The technician will maintain a safe working environment, operate material handling equipment, and adhere to all company GMP, Code of Conduct, and Safety Rules. A key aspect of the role is to ship orders completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years forklift experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift safely, including charging and watering batteries.
  • Load and unload trailers for shipments and receipts.
  • Utilize ERP transactions for all receipts, movements, and issuance of raw materials and packaging components, staging, and shipping of customer orders, warehouse transfers, or customer returns.
  • Secure trailers with dock locks or wheel chocks before entering with a forklift and remove/unlock when loading/unloading is complete.
  • Install and remove dock plates, open and close dock doors, and ensure they remain locked for security and safety.
  • Label, stretch wrap, stage, and ship orders in compliance with customer requirements and company procedures.
  • Repack cartons.
  • Complete staging requests of raw material from production to the correct machine.
  • Move production from the plant floor and load onto trucks or place in designated warehouse locations.
  • Perform RTI’s for color, liner, and WIP caps returned to the warehouse from production.
  • Prepare weekly inventory reports for Purchasing and conduct warehouse bin checks.
  • Print ship sets, bills of lading, and labels.
  • Respond to telephone queries, and receive and send fax information.
  • Accurately unload resin from railcars to the silo.
  • Complete sanitation logs weekly and monthly as assigned.
  • Shovel and salt outside grounds when needed.
  • Maintain scrap totes/balers, receiving them in and replacing them when needed.
  • Maintain staging lanes using a forklift.
  • Participate in fiscal year-end inventory audit preparation.
  • Follow all Food Safety related policies and procedures.
  • Follow all Safety Rules, Code of Conduct policies, procedures, and WI.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
