About The Position

Material Support Inspectors are responsible for validating product and documentation compliance to applicable requirements. This includes piece part and sub-assembly inspections, documentation verification, and traceability. This position is part of the Space Propulsion and Power Systems business, which is transitioning to a new standalone company upon closing of an acquisition by AE Industrial Partners. L3Harris will continue hiring for this role until the transaction closes.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Military/Space workmanship specifications and IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 soldering specifications or work and experience in a similar field.
  • Previous GD & T (Geometric dimensioning tolerancing) – background, working with various hand tools (micrometer, dial indicator and plug gauges).
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in TIPQA (Quality Management System), SAP (System Applications and Products for Data Processing) or a similar manufacturing system.
  • Experience reading drawings, inspection instructions and engineering specification documents.
  • Observant and attentive to detail.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Familiarity working within excel and word.
  • Ability to work with a team or independently.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate inspection of piece parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Review and maintain support documentation, accurately comparing, and verifying information across multiple documents.
  • Interact cross functionally to meet department deadlines.
  • Ensure piece parts and sub-assemblies follow company standards.
  • Determine methods and procedures necessary for inspection.
  • Validate product and documentation for compliance to applicable requirements through inspection and GD&T measurements.
  • Ensure Product and Product Articles are accurate before moving on to the next discipline within the process.
  • Complete training courses for the position (on site at this facility) J-STD-001, TIPQA, Cost Point and on the job training by peers.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Work for prolonged periods of time looking through a microscope.
  • Move a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
