About The Position

The Material Specialist is responsible for supporting onshore material management and logistics for the customer at an onshore facility. This role involves the day-to-day operation of the onshore warehouse, including the receipt, stocking, storage, picking, issuance, and movement of materials, equipment, and consumables for both onshore and offshore oil and gas operations. Key duties include preparing and shipping materials to offshore assets, maintaining accurate inventory through regular counts, and potentially filling in for offshore warehousemen during relief rotations. The primary goal is to ensure goods are stored, maintained, and delivered in the correct quantity, at the right time, and to the right place for operational teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ material handling and warehousing experience.
  • Experience with heavy equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies) lifting and movement.
  • Oil & Gas industry experience required.
  • SAP experience required.
  • Ability to obtain site-specific certification including equipment licenses.
  • Experience and understanding of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing lists, requisitions, manifests, Bills of Lading, and material specifications.
  • Ability to multitask and handle workloads.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to work within a defined HSSE culture.
  • Willingness and ability to travel Offshore as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, pick, stage, and dispatch materials and equipment to offshore assets in line with delivery schedules, marine logistics requirements, and operational priorities.
  • Build, label, and document offshore shipments, including manifests, cargo carrying unit (CCU) certifications, and dangerous goods declarations, ensuring compliance with offshore lifting and certification standards.
  • Receive and inspect backloads returning from offshore, verifying materials against the Bill of Lading and routing them appropriately.
  • Perform physical inventory counts and routine cycle counts, maintaining accurate inventory records and stock locations in the ERP system (SAP) and reconciling variances.
  • Provide care and custody of warehouse materials, ensuring accuracy and availability in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Receive incoming shipments and offload cargo boxes, verifying quantities, part numbers, and condition against documentation.
  • Stock and put away incoming materials in designated locations, maintaining accurate location records.
  • Physically and systematically stage and issue material against work orders and requisitions for both onshore and offshore demand.
  • Optimize warehouse space, including placement of materials based on movement frequency and storage requirements.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, stock pickers, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and dollies, performing daily pre-use inspections.
  • Support loading and offloading of trucks, including securing and rigging of loads where qualified.
  • Monitor and action all inboxes to ensure business continuity and serve as a point of contact for material management and supply chain inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free warehouse and yard in line with 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Comply with all HSSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and lifting/rigging procedures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and incident reporting.
  • Intervene or stop work upon observing unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in and adhere to any asset/company mandated programs, trainings, and other requirements.
  • Engage effectively with coworkers and colleagues of varying experience and knowledge.
  • Always wear mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
  • May have to fill in for offshore personnel.
