About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing materials, specifically door skins, according to schedules and specifications. The Material Prep position involves reading and interpreting schedules, accurately pulling and organizing materials, inspecting for quality, and performing precise cuts. The job requires attention to detail, strong measurement skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The position is on the 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with a pay rate of $19 per hour plus a shift differential.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of all skin species.
  • Attention to detail in identifying skin defects, quality specs, and pass/no pass parameters.
  • Ability to read and interpret tickets/schedules.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Advanced knowledge of SKU's.
  • Knowledge of material cut requirements.
  • Knowledge of coordinating material flow to/off skin lines.
  • Knowledge of procedures, order tracking process and documents.
  • Knowledge of door types.
  • Knowledge of pull requirements for materials/doors from the main warehouse.
  • Knowledge of table saw operation.
  • Excellent memory recall.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Good math and measurement skills.
  • Must read and write English.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets schedules to pull accurate materials and door skins.
  • Knowledge of material locations within the facility.
  • Reads tickets/schedules to determine correct materials and counts.
  • Stacks skins onto a cull board in the correct orientation and order of the schedule.
  • Adds the correct amount of cull boards and rejects bad ones.
  • Inspects and records reject skins.
  • Inspects and returns skins to the correct location.
  • Moves cull boards by pushing a cart.
  • Records schedule number, line number, stack number, date, and initials on each stack of skins.
  • Flips over the top skin on skin stacks to be restocked.
  • Highlights/identifies special cut skins on the printed schedule.
  • Measures and sets up skins to cut to width and length based on chart specifications.
  • Holds and cuts up to 10+ skins at a time.
  • Uses a tape measure to the 32nd of an inch.
  • Validates accuracy of skins before and after cuts.
  • Completes quality inspection and pre-flips skins in proper orientation, correct count, and in order of the schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
