About The Position

The Material Planner coordinates with other departments to ensure production goals and timelines are met. The role works closely with Scheduling, Procurement, and other teams to plan and coordinate production releases to the shop floor. The Material Planner confirms materials and scheduling information, responds to changes in requirements, investigates shortages, and creates jobs based on demand while coordinating job operations with production capacity and build requirements. The position also ensures revision levels and drawings are accurate at job release and collaborates across a range of business functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in inventory, supply chain, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong math, accounting, and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Confirm materials are available to meet demand, including job orders, customer orders, and transfer orders, before releasing jobs to the production floor.
• Obtain accurate scheduling information to confirm required dates.
• Adapt to changes in requirements resulting from Bill of Materials updates or engineering changes.
• Communicate schedule adjustments to procurement and operations teams, such as move-ins, move-outs, or receipts that are no longer required.
• Investigate shortage issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Highlight and escalate potential at-risk inventory concerns.
• Use the material planner workbench to create jobs based on demand, collaborating with scheduling and operations to adjust job operations to production capacity and build requirements.
• Ensure revision levels and available drawings are accurate when jobs are released.
• Collaborate with procurement, project managers, logistics (shipping/receiving), scheduling, routing, engineering, quality, finance, and operations teams.
