About The Position

The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring the timely sourcing, planning, and availability of raw and packaging materials to support 24/7 manufacturing operations. This role manages material requirements planning, purchase order execution, supplier coordination, and inventory optimization to ensure uninterrupted production, strong customer service, and adherence to working capital objectives. The Material Planner serves as a key liaison between Manufacturing, Master Scheduling, Procurement, and Supply Chain Planning, proactively identifying risks to the production schedule and driving solutions to minimize material shortages, excess inventory, waste, and downtime.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations Planning, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of experience in supply chain planning, material planning, or manufacturing operations
  • Strong proficiency in SAP ERP, including MM and MRP functionality
  • Solid understanding of MRP fundamentals, including inventory management, lead times, and planning fences
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel and working proficiency in PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex information to diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and follow‑through on commitments
  • Creative and analytical problem‑solver with the ability to approach challenges from multiple perspectives
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively in cross‑functional environments
  • Willingness to participate in after‑hours/on‑call support as required to ensure operational continuity

  • APICS certification and/or Citizen Data Scientist certification are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate material requirements using system‑generated MRP outputs and requisition raw and packaging materials accordingly
  • Release and manage purchase orders in SAP ERP in support of the production plan
  • Manage major raw materials to support daily production schedules and the weekly master schedule
  • Maintain balance between manufacturing demand and storage limitations to support working capital KPIs
  • Expedite and de‑expedite materials with suppliers to maintain a flexible production schedule
  • Communicate proactively with Suppliers, Procurement, Supply Chain Planning, and Master Scheduling regarding order confirmations, delays, shortages, or changes impacting production
  • Interface cross‑functionally with Logistics, R&D, Procurement, and Manufacturing
  • Monitor raw and packaging inventory levels to drive inventory optimization and continuous improvement
  • Manage excess and obsolete packaging inventory
  • Coordinate and support cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives
  • Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), material master data, production versions, and factory invoices in SAP
  • Identify and resolve issues related to incorrect work order usage, including batches or production versions
  • Run and distribute daily and ad‑hoc SAP reports to support operations and decision‑making
  • Track and maintain internal KPIs and performance metrics
  • Create and manage transportation documents for inbound deliveries where the company is responsible for freight
  • Follow up with carriers and suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery
  • Support R&D material transitions, ensuring proper segregation and utilization of existing materials to minimize waste during changeovers
  • Provide out‑of‑hours support on a rotational basis for operational issues, aligned with 24/7 manufacturing operations
