About The Position

The Material Planner analyzes customer demand material requirements and orders material from suppliers and schedules material to be built on the production floor. This role works directly with Suppliers and other Magna plants on material requirements. The position involves reviewing materials planning for assigned product groups, issuing purchase orders to suppliers, sending forecasts, and daily tracking of inbound material to ensure on-time arrival. The Material Planner will establish relationships with suppliers, hold supplier meetings, and maintain effective communication regarding open purchase orders and delivery schedules. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize conflicting tasks. The Material Planner participates in daily production meetings to communicate current inventory levels, schedule compliance, and other operating parameters. They will analyze production data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement, and identify and escalate production issues that may impact production output or quality. Participation in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline production processes and reduce costs is expected. The role involves preparing management summary reports and trend charts detailing department key efficiency operating indicators, analyzing data to determine statistics and trends, and acting as required. Facilitating positive working relationships between all support staff to foster a team environment is also a key function.

Requirements

  • Three to Five years planning and production scheduling and planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Highly Proficient in Excel to include Macros and Reporting
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, problem solving, and people skills.
  • The ability to coordinate other shift activities in addition to functional responsibility for his/her own shift operations.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
