This role plans and prepares production schedules for the manufacture of Tempur mattresses, purchases and expedites parts, and ensures customer service.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or other 2-year degree, plus five years of directly related experience as a materials planner, scheduler, or similar in a manufacturing environment (component manufacturing preferred). Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Hands-on experience as a planner, scheduler or similar function within an MRP or ERP.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, to include demonstrated, practical mastery of macros, formulas, external source referencing and other analytical functions.
  • Successful candidate must be highly meticulous, detail oriented, and able to solve complex problems with multiple variables (such as multiple suppliers, arrival dates, logistics, etc.) and deal with a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, co-workers, customers and suppliers.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Intermediate math skills are needed to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to practical situations; ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks associated with the production of mattresses.
  • Must be able to measure using the metric system.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MPS, supply chain, inventory management, JIP/KANBAN processes and procedures is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors production schedules, inventory reports and work orders to determine the type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock and order priority.
  • Responsible for firming, releasing, manual entry and distribution of production orders.
  • Confers with production personnel to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Responsible for entering purchase orders, faxing, coordinating delivery and follow-up such purchase orders and RMA’s with appropriate vendors.
  • Minimal customer service duties-fulfills customer needs to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize, create and maintain tracking, status and information tools, (either system generated or spreadsheets) for purchased or manufactured parts.
  • Coordinate and maintain inventory records via monthly inventory or cycle count processes.
  • Place orders for materials with suppliers or other plants in order to obtain both on-time shipment and inventory goals.
  • Monitor and track status of orders and communicate with suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and participate as fully-empowered team member to achieve organization-wide goal of zero incidents.
