About The Position

The Material Planner is responsible for end-to-end inventory planning, including Sales in Excess of invoicing from purchase requisition through customer invoice. The role supports internal customer service inquiries, sets inventory parameters and targets, and ensures adequate inventory replenishment through purchase orders. It is part of ABB’s Smart Power division at the Regional Distribution Center in Mt Juliet, Tennessee, and is primarily onsite.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials/Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, with 2 or more years of relevant experience in Materials Planning, Sourcing, and Logistics; alternatively, an associate’s degree in a related field with 7 or more years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 10 or more years of relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of integrated ERP systems, specifically SAP.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to deliver results with minimal supervision.
• Solid time management and organizational skills.
• Clear communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Existing work authorization permitting employment with ABB in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• APICS, ISM, or equivalent supply chain certifications.
• Power BI proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Define inventory policies based on specified segmentation.
• Calculate and maintain inventory parameters—including safety stock, reorder point, lot size, lead time, and replenishment strategies—in planning systems and ERPs.
• Coordinate material planning and call-offs to ensure purchase requisitions are converted into purchase orders, collaborating with operations buyers and services.
• Collaborate with buyers to support supplier performance in on-time delivery, minimum order quantity, quality, lead time, and flexibility.
• Support internal customer service inquiries.
• Set inventory parameters and targets and ensure adequate inventory replenishment through purchase orders.
