About The Position

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Fuses and Circuit Switchers function. As a Material Planner, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Material Planner plays a critical role within the value stream organization, responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material availability to support production while optimizing inventory levels. The Material Planner is accountable for clear-to-build (CTB) management, balancing demand and supply, forecasting material requirements, and maintaining optimal stocking strategies. This position serves as a key problem solver within Oracle ERP and provides material readiness guidance to scheduling teams to support on-time production execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 2-3+ years of experience in material planning, supply chain, purchasing, or manufacturing operations
  • Experience in ERP systems (Oracle preferred; SAP or similar acceptable)
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent)
  • Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, forecasting, modeling)
  • Understanding of MRP, inventory control, and supply chain processes
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions
  • Problem-Solving: Strong capability to resolve material and system issues quickly
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in planning and system data
  • Communication & Collaboration: Effective cross-functional and supplier communication
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic production environment
  • Execution Focus: Bias toward action and results in critical supply situations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Clear-to-Build (CTB) status to ensure production readiness across the value stream.
  • Proactively identify material constraints and partner with other members of the team to drive resolution to prevent production disruptions.
  • Align material availability with production schedules and customer demand.
  • Analyze demand signals and translate them into accurate material requirements.
  • Balance supply and demand through effective planning, prioritization, and scenario analysis.
  • Adjust plans in response to demand changes, supply disruptions, or inventory imbalances.
  • Develop and maintain material forecasts based on production plans, historical usage, and demand variability.
  • Establish and manage safety stock and stocking levels to ensure optimal inventory investment while minimizing risk.
  • Monitor inventory health (excess, obsolete, and slow-moving materials) and drive corrective actions.
  • Utilize Oracle ERP for material planning, purchase requisitions, inventory tracking, and data accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve planning and system-related issues within Oracle.
  • Ensure accurate master data (BOMs, lead times, planning parameters) to support effective planning.
  • Support purchase order management, expedite critical materials, and mitigate shortages.
  • Initiate root cause analysis and corrective actions for material shortages and supply interruptions.
  • Make recommendations that drive continuous improvement in planning processes, inventory accuracy, and system utilization.
  • Implement best practices such as JIT, Kanban, and lean material flow concepts where applicable.
