Material Planner

Base Power Company•Austin, TX

About The Position

Base is hiring a Material Planner to ensure its factories have the right parts at the right time. The role owns material planning for key components and assemblies, translates production plans and engineering changes into supply plans, and holds suppliers accountable for delivery. The planner will also build planning processes and tools as the company scales, working closely with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, quality, and finance. The position is part of Base’s supply chain team, which sources components, runs manufacturing operations, and develops supplier partnerships to support production of home batteries at scale. Base is a startup where priorities can shift quickly, and the role’s responsibilities may expand or change with business needs. The company works in person and describes its working environment as not a 9-to-5, with employees all-in on the mission.

Requirements

  • Degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations, finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • At least 5 years in material planning, supply chain, or manufacturing at a hardware or industrial company.
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems in discrete manufacturing, including BOMs, part lifecycles, and procure-to-pay.
  • Strong data analysis skills and ability to make clear decisions under tight timelines.
  • Track record of working across teams and holding suppliers to their commitments.
  • Clear, direct written and verbal communication.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with manufacturing ERP and MES systems.
  • Experience using AI or agentic tools to build and speed up planning workflows and analyses.
  • Experience with electromechanical assemblies that mix off-the-shelf and custom parts, including assemblies built by contract manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Own material planning for assigned components and assemblies across production, engineering builds, and ramps.
  • Turn production demand into supply plans in the ERP, balancing service levels, inventory, and cost.
  • Set and maintain planning parameters and master data so the system reflects real supplier capabilities.
  • Prepare materials for engineering changes, new parts, and product transitions while keeping obsolescence low.
  • Report clear-to-build status, material coverage, and run-out risk, and run scenarios for production and leadership.
  • Size safety stock and order quantities based on data.
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for assigned suppliers, driving on-time delivery, resolving shortages, and escalating when needed.
  • Support supplier ramps for new programs and production phases.
  • Improve planning processes, tools, and reporting as Base adds factories and products.
