The Material Planner/Buyer plays a key role within our Supply Chain team, ensuring the timely and accurate procurement of dry goods, direct materials, and other supplies. As the critical link between our vendors and our winery production, this role works closely with vendors, demand planning, bottling, winemaking, finance, production, and warehouse teams to keep inventory levels accurate and production on schedule. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable navigating shifting priorities, and driven to track down the information needed to keep materials flowing without disruption.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
Experience working within an ERP system for purchase orders, inventory, and vendor management (NetSuite, Deacom, SAP, or similar preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; comfortable working with reports and data to support purchasing decisions.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple purchase orders, vendors, and deadlines simultaneously without losing track of details.
Thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift regularly, approaching change with energy and a positive, can-do attitude rather than frustration.
Naturally curious and persistent, with a track record of tracking down the information needed to solve a problem, whether that means following up with a vendor, digging into a report, or asking the right person the right question.
Comfortable operating with a degree of ambiguity, using sound judgment to move things forward even when all the answers aren't immediately available.
Proactively seeks clarification when priorities or expectations are unclear, rather than guessing or waiting to be told.
Adaptable and flexible, able to pivot quickly when production schedules, vendor timelines, or business needs change.
Strong communicator, comfortable working cross-functionally with Supply Planning, Bottling, Finance, Warehouse, Production, Sales, and Marketing teams.
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through, ensuring purchase orders, vendor commitments, and inventory records stay accurate.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the wine, beverage, or food manufacturing industry.
Familiarity with MRP systems and demand planning concepts.
Purchasing or supply chain certification (CPSM, APICS/CSCP, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

Review bottling, dry goods, and other direct material needs using MRP and other reports.
Create purchase orders in the ERP system for dry goods, direct materials, tooling, and other supplies, and follow up with vendors to confirm accuracy and timely delivery.
Purchase non-stock items, including MRO, in accordance with purchase requisitions and company policy.
Complete PO receipt transactions in the ERP system.
Monitor the production schedule and forecasts, communicate PO changes to vendors, and maintain PO accuracy as material needs shift.
Communicate shortage and quality issues with vendors in a timely manner.
Maintain vendor performance documentation related to quality and lead time.
Support purchasing negotiations with RFQs, providing material consumption and forecast analysis.
Monitor and update the ERP system with the latest delivery dates to maintain the accuracy of MRP reports.
Collaborate with Demand/Supply Planning and Bottling to order all needed materials in a timely manner, avoiding out-of-stock situations or expediting fees.
Work with Finance to reconcile PO and invoice discrepancies.
Support the warehouse and Inventory Control team in monitoring dry goods inventory and reconciling discrepancies.
Support the Inventory Control Specialist in monitoring and tracking bottling waste.
Support Sales and Marketing initiatives, supply needs, customer requests, and special projects as needed.
Enter production data into the ERP system as a backup, as needed.
Understand general clerical duties including, but not limited to, reports, filing, photocopying, and mailing.
Assist with departmental initiatives, new projects, tailgate safety meetings, and related functions.
Perform other duties and participate in special projects as assigned by the supervisor or manager, within the physical constraints of the job.
Identify and implement sustainable practices within the team/department to align with the company’s environmental goals.
