About The Position

The Materials Manager is responsible for managing supply chain operations for a single surgery center, including procurement, inventory control, vendor coordination, supply organization, and cost-conscious purchasing. This role works closely with the Facility Administrator, clinical teams, physicians, and vendors to ensure supplies are available, organized, compliant, and aligned with patient care needs. This is an individual contributor role with no direct employee oversight.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–5 years in healthcare materials management preferred
  • ASC experience strongly preferred
  • SIS and ENVI proficiency preferred
  • Proficiency in SIS and ENVI systems preferred
  • strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • knowledge of GPO contracts, purchasing processes, inventory management, and ASC operations.
  • Core competencies include attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, organizational skills, adaptability, and integrity.
  • Ability to lift and move supplies up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and organizing inventory
  • Ability to work in supply storage areas, sterile processing environments, and clinical areas
  • Visual acuity for computer work, barcode scanning, and detailed record-keeping
  • Manual dexterity for handling medical supplies and operating inventory management equipment
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support facility operations, case volume, and inventory needs

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage ordering, receiving, stocking, inventory control, par levels, stockroom organization, and appropriate storage of supplies, medical gases, and chemicals for the facility.
  • Utilize SIS and ENVI for procurement, reporting, purchase order processing, inventory tracking, barcode scanning, and accurate record maintenance.
  • Maintain and update surgical preference cards in collaboration with clinical staff and physicians to support accurate case preparation and supply utilization.
  • Coordinate with vendors, monitor vendor performance, support contract compliance, and help identify pricing or purchasing opportunities through approved agreements and GPO resources.
  • Monitor supply costs, reduce waste, identify cost-saving opportunities, and communicate supply-related trends or concerns to facility leadership.
  • Maintain consistent ordering processes by service line to support efficient surgical operations and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Support compliance with applicable state, federal, accreditation, and facility requirements; maintain appropriate supply chain documentation and participate in QAPI activities as needed.
  • Build collaborative relationships with clinical staff, physicians, leadership, vendors, and external partners to support timely communication and issue resolution.
  • Support new service lines, equipment needs, product conversions, and facility initiatives related to supplies, inventory, and cost management.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure supply chain decisions align with patient care priorities, operational needs, and organizational values.
