Material Handling Team Leader

Slip Roboticsβ€’Norcross, GA

About The Position

At Slip Robotics, the Material Handling Team Lead owns internal material flow on the production floor, from receiving and inspection through line-side presentation, end-of-line pick, pack, and ship. The role also covers point-of-use storage sizing and replenishment, interdepartmental order picking, and keeping production areas free of packaging waste. This is a working lead role managing a team of two material handlers. The Team Lead works alongside the team, personally covering floor work when volume or absences require it, and serves as the day-to-day point of contact for storage discipline in the production warehouse. The role coordinates with the Logistics Manager, who sets inventory strategy and replenishment policy, on staffing and cross-functional priorities. Success is measured by continuous improvement in material handling and inventory accuracy, cycle-count progress and accuracy, on-time internal and external deliveries, uninterrupted material flow to production lines, and efficient use of labor hours.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in material handling, warehousing, or production materials, including some experience guiding or coordinating others' work.
  • Hands-on experience receiving, storing, and replenishing parts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • A safety-first mindset and willingness to hold others accountable to safety practices.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to notice discrepancies in locations, labels, or counts.
  • Physical capability to work on a production floor, including lifting up to 50 pounds and extended standing and walking.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, or another low-volume, high-complexity build environment.
  • Prior experience as a lead or supervisor in a warehouse or stockroom setting.
  • Familiarity with kitting, point-of-use replenishment, or kanban systems.
  • Exposure to Lean or 5S practices.
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning, labeling, and serialized or lot-traceable parts.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Own receiving: verify incoming parts and materials against packing lists and purchase orders, identify discrepancies or damage, route materials to incoming inspection when required, and put away complete and accurate receipts the same day.
  • Keep the receiving dock organized and staged to prevent inbound material backups.
  • Own line-side material presentation and prevent build stoppages caused by material in the facility not being available where needed.
  • Kit subassemblies and stage parts and components ahead of production needs.
  • Size and replenish point-of-use supermarket locations at each line according to the production schedule and kanban signals.
  • Pick and deliver materials for moves between departments and work centers.
  • Execute replenishment triggers and min/max levels set by the Logistics Manager, and flag locations or parts needing adjusted levels.
  • Escalate shortages immediately with the affected part, quantity, and build impact.
  • Keep production lines and surrounding areas clear of packaging waste and other obstructions.
  • Own end-of-line pick, pack, and ship for finished goods leaving the production floor.
  • Oversee inventory management and control in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain the physical layout of the production warehouse, with defined and labeled locations that match how production consumes parts.
  • Enforce 5S and storage standards across the stockroom and production floor; ensure items have assigned locations and labels.
  • Keep warehouse and inventory system transactions accurate and current, including receipts, put-away, work-order issues, and moves, logged the same day.
  • Lead improvements in material and inventory management practices, including cycle-count accuracy, transaction discipline, barcode/RFID use, and fill rate; investigate variances to root cause.
  • Partner with Quality, Purchasing, and Production to resolve material-driven quality and delivery issues and achieve shared KPIs.
  • Maintain communication among planning, purchasing, and production so information is not lost between departments.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments and schedules for two material handlers, and personally cover their work during peak volume or absences.
  • Flag staffing gaps or workload imbalances to the Logistics Manager.
  • Train and certify team members on forklift and other powered industrial truck operation.
  • Reinforce safety practices in material handling areas, including traffic patterns, pedestrian separation, rack-loading limits, and PPE compliance.
  • Coordinate with the Logistics Manager on staffing, coverage, and cross-training so floor operations do not depend on one person.
