About The Position

The Material Handler role involves the movement and management of merchandise and materials from shipment to the production floor. Key responsibilities include loading and unloading materials in warehouse and storage areas using transport equipment such as cranes and forklifts. The position requires accurate material delivery according to paperwork, preparation of materials for shipping (including weighing, packaging, and banding), and adherence to shipping procedures, routes, and rates. The Material Handler will also participate in routing, counting, and inspecting items during truck loading and unloading, prepare necessary shipping forms like bills of lading, and resolve problems related to shipping, receiving, and stock operations. Safe operation of an overhead crane and forklift is essential.

Requirements

• Safety practices and record keeping.
• Physical ability to lift heavy packages and objects.
• Able to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment or any large vehicles in tight and congested areas.
• Basic knowledge of math and computers.
• Communication skills.
• Overhead crane skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Able to read a tape measure.
