About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for safely moving raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility, supporting production and shipping operations, and maintaining accurate inventory locations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring material flow is efficient, organized, and aligned with system records.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years' experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification)
  • Ability to read labels, work orders, and basic documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or building materials industry
  • Experience handling long-length or non-standard materials (e.g., metal roofing, bundles)
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning and inventory systems

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas (6S standards)
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately
  • Participate in safety meetings and incident investigations
  • Support a goal of zero incidents
  • Always operate equipment in a safe manner
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and report any issues
  • Operate forklift (sit-down) to move materials safely and efficiently
  • If necessary, load and unload trucks, staging materials for shipping and receiving
  • Transport raw materials to production lines and remove finished goods
  • Stack, store, and organize materials in designated warehouse locations
  • Handle various product types (palletized goods, long-length materials like roofing/metal, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate location control and ensure materials are stored correctly
  • Verify quantities and product identification before moving or staging
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory processes
  • Report and help resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Assist when needed with staging outbound shipments according to load plans and schedules
  • Verify product, quantities, and labels before loading
  • Assist with inbound receiving by unloading and staging materials for inspection
  • Ensure proper labeling and documentation alignment with shipments
