About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near the plant, yard, or worksite. This role involves reading work orders or following oral instructions to determine materials to be moved, opening containers, and loading/unloading materials onto various storage systems. The Material Handler will also convey materials using hand trucks or other devices, secure lifting attachments, and perform additional duties as needed to support company operations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in material handling, warehouse, or related environment preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to speak and read English.
• Ability to operate and read a scanner.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic shop math skills.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools and material-handling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and move materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site.
• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine materials or containers to be moved.
• Open containers using steel cutters, crowbars, claw hammers, or other hand tools.
• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
• Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Convey materials to and from storage or work sites using hand trucks, electric dollies, wheelbarrows, or other material-handling devices.
• Secure lifting attachments to materials and move loads using hand-operated cranes or hoists.
• Perform additional related duties as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the company.
