About The Position

Under the general direction of the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, this position is responsible for all material handling activities within the Lapp Cable Works production floor and supporting areas. Primary activities in this role are material-handling related, including raw materials unloading and staging, finished goods transfers, cycle counts and any other necessary material related functions that support the daily operations of LCW.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive responsibility in material handling, preferably in a production/ logistics environment.
  • Must have working knowledge of Kaizen, 5S, and Lean methodologies, with proven work experience carrying out these initiatives.
  • Forklift Certified
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with the English language, written and spoken.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RF Scanners or SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for using a forklift and/or pallet jacks or other material handling equipment on a daily basis in a safe and efficient manner and maintaining safe working order of all forklifts/equipment along with performing pre-work inspections.
  • Responsible for maintaining storage accuracy and working in harmony with the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to plan for receipts in advance.
  • Plan material needs with collaboration and continuous communication from machine operators and Shipping & Receiving Supervisor.
  • Processing incoming and outgoing materials to and from warehouses, including completing associated paperwork, conducting visual inspections, and maintaining accurate labeling procedures.
  • Responsible for identifying, storing, packaging, loading and documenting shipments to customers. Including exports to sister companies and domestic customers.
  • Identify and quantify environmental impacts within the production and storage areas. Keeping accurate records and properly storing items for disposal, recycling, or scrapping.
  • Implement and maintain clear, visual identifications/numbers/labeling of all the materials stored within each bin, row, aisle or stocking location.
  • Retrieve, package and/or store deposit items for return to vendors on regular basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, safe working environment and holding others accountable for the same.
  • Responsible for completing and communicating required training, including, but not limited to, LAPP Grow, Ilias and hands-on events as required.
  • Responsible for the training of Material Handler(s) as required.
