About The Position

The Material Handler supports production by moving materials using a forklift and other equipment as needed. This role ensures the accurate flow of inventory and maintains cleanliness in work areas. The work schedule aligns with the production area assigned. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Required to pass a written as well as driving forklift certification test.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Adherence to all safety rules and regulations, including completing forklift inspection sheets.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) or two (2) years of experience driving a fork truck - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the departments in keeping a continuous flow of quality castings throughout the plant.
  • Changing full and empty parts bins and taking to the designated areas.
  • Verify routing and/or disposition of material with signature on route tag.
  • Moving bins to/from containment area.
  • Transport signed off material in containment area.
  • Moving or transport items for maintenance, tool room, and stockroom as required.
  • Bringing packages/boxes received to stockroom.
  • Forwarding all packing lists, bills of lading, miscellaneous shipping memos, and any other shipping/receiving paperwork to the appropriate department.
  • Place empty bins, containers, and packages in proper areas.
  • Inspect finished skids for missing parts, ensure tag accuracy, band or shrink wrap containers and place containers in shipping lanes.
  • Dumping all trash hoppers and barrels from the plant into the proper bin outside and informing stockroom when bins are full.
  • Removing tops and clean out empty barrels.
  • Taking visual inventory as required.
  • Using time and equipment appropriately to increase efficiency, effectiveness and utilization.
  • Load scrap bins in appropriate area, stack, weigh and clean up any spills.
  • Replenish stock, components, and clean dunnage in work cells.
  • Accurately scan materials or enter data into software for inventory management.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work area, outside lot, and dunnage storage areas.
  • Load and unload trucks (if requested), sort materials, and pack parts.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Required to fill in for other material handlers on other shifts for call ins
