About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for safely driving a forklift to stage material, load and unload trucks, and transfer material within the plant and between departments. This role emphasizes keeping safety at the forefront, adhering to all safety procedures, and contributing to team efforts. The position requires maintaining a safe, organized, FIFO-controlled warehouse, managing inventory, preparing finished stock for shipment, and identifying opportunities for work environment improvement. The Material Handler must be a reliable team member, able to take coaching, communicate respectfully, and promote a positive teamwork culture. They should be knowledgeable of safety requirements in a manufacturing/warehouse environment and able to work in a fast-paced setting, follow instructions, and adhere to safe work practices within a continuous improvement culture.

  • 1+ years of sit-down forklift experience
  • 1+ years of inventory control experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Inventory Control/Warehouse Management software (ex. SAP) is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive a forklift to stage material, load trucks, unload trucks and transfer material within the plant and within departments as needed.
  • Keep Safety at the forefront of team’s thinking and approach to work.
  • Communicate and ensure all safety procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Assist to maintain a safe, well organized, FIFO (first in, first out) controlled warehouse per Pregis Best Practice.
  • Maintain inventory by identifying and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling and securing product in correct location.
  • Be a reliable member of the team, always identifying and professionally communicating ways to improve the work environment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
