About The Position

The Material Handler works at the Mid State Division in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The role requires forklift operation and involves working in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled, where conditions may be hot or cold. The position requires physical stamina and coordination, attention to safety, and the ability to handle materials and perform work-related movements as described below.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing.
Basic computer skills.
Forklift experience required.
Ability to work independently, accept accountability, stay focused, meet work demands, and be reliable and trustworthy.
Effective verbal and written communication, listening, and documentation skills.
Ability to focus on details and accuracy, identify process improvements, address quality issues, and exercise sound judgment and timely decision-making.

Possess good physical stamina and coordination.
Ability to continuously and repetitively sit for prolonged periods, read standardized work instructions, operate forklifts, wear personal protective equipment, bend, push, pull, twist, reach, and use hand positioning to grip or grasp forklift or equipment controls.
Ability to see clearly at close and distance ranges, distinguish colors, maintain peripheral vision, perceive depth, and adjust focus as necessary.
Ability to frequently walk and stand.
Ability to occasionally lift or carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds and periodically lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to occasionally kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Recognize potential exposure to environmental, mechanical, chemical, electrical, and explosive hazards.
