About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining and complying with all safety rules at all times. This role involves transporting materials to and from designated areas based on production schedules or shipping pick forms, carefully identifying part numbers and verifying quantities. The Material Handler will also process trans-loads for inbound and outbound cross-docking, prepare orders for shipment, and ensure all products have proper documentation. Additionally, this position involves receiving inbound materials, opening loads using various tools, securing products for handling and shipment, and maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse. Equipment checks and cycle counts are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Two to three years of material handling/forklift experience required.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to learn Oracle, MS Office Outlook, and scanning systems.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Working knowledge of part numbers and products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize all responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and comply with all safety rules at all times.
  • Transport material to and from designated areas based on production schedule or shipping pick form.
  • Carefully identify part numbers and verify quantities.
  • Report any inconsistencies or problems to the supervisor.
  • Process trans-loads for all inbound and outbound cross-dock.
  • Identify materials to be moved.
  • Cross-reference with production schedule or pick form and move materials to the required location.
  • Prepare orders for accurate, on-time shipment of products.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and file it.
  • Ensure all products have proper documentation before transport.
  • Receive inbound materials, verifying information and quantity against packing slip or purchase order.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies.
  • Use snips, hammer, and various hand tools to open loads, remove strapping, wrapping, and dispose of them safely.
  • Place protective material around loads and use hand or automatic wrapping equipment to secure in-plant handling, storage, or final shipment to customers.
  • Dispose of scrap or trash into the compactor and activate the compacting cycle.
  • Keep the warehouse in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform operations and safety checks on equipment prior to the start of the shift, including battery, brakes, and lift controls.
  • Prepare equipment for charging at the end of the shift.
  • Cycle count inventory when directed.
  • Meet essential productivity standards in shipping and receiving.
