About The Position

The Material Handler at Mars Wrigley in Newmarket, ON, is responsible for site Supply Chain activities supporting Operations and Customer Service requirements. This role involves driving business processes related to the site Supply Chain, including ownership and improvement of Inbound processes, Inventory Control, 5s, GMP’s, Safety, Leadership, and Scheduling Decision Support. Mars Wrigley manufactures brands such as Mars, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way, and Maltesers. Requirements

  • Minimum Secondary School diploma
  • 3-5 years of Logistics experience with significant understanding of plant and manufacturing operations
  • Certified Forklift Operator
  • 3-5 years of experience in receiving systems, SAP and Blue Yonder/JDA (or similar ERP system)
  • Proven ability optimizing processes to meet or exceed product specifications
  • Strong knowledge of operations and supply chain concepts including lean, kanban, FIFO and 5S

Nice To Haves

  • Post Secondary Education in a technical field is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for site Logistics Material Handler activities including material movements in support of production, load receiving and returns, transaction accuracy, Quality sampling and testing, maintaining site standards for Safety and GMPs, ordering materials from offsite warehouse and warehouse returns
  • Coordinates safe and controlled transfer of materials into and around the site
  • Adhere to Quality allergen requirements for items stored in racks and on site
  • Batch code checks, yard checks, trailer checks and Weever forms
  • Monitor palletizer operation, escalating issues to Maintenance as required
  • Conduct cycle counts for raw and packaging materials, escalating large variances to Supply Chain Coordinator and supporting any corrective actions required
  • Maintain proper documentation and complete transactions in SAP accurately
  • Collaborate with other shifts, Support staff and management to maintain appropriate on-site material inventories in support of production
  • Manage bar muncher, and animal feed processes
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support Finished Goods, raw and pack material hold activities
  • Assists SCC in maintaining active use trailer pool
  • Forklift inspections, cleaning and routine maintenance
  • Accurate Outbound deployment and documentation
