About The Position

To supply the correct amount and type of materials to the production/mixing operation according to schedule requirements. To transfer unused material to the warehouse, maintaining proper amounts of materials in the storage area. To document and maintain material handling paperwork and count materials for inventory control purposes.

Requirements

  • One (1) years' experience, preferably in a manufacturing plant or warehouse operation.
  • Ability to operate forklift and reach trucks.
  • Ability to perform basic math (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Good computer/systems skills – MS Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Ability to visually identify color differences in finished goods and to check material for containments or inconsistencies.
  • Good cooperation and collaboration skills.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
  • High degree of concentration with attention to detail, high energy and self-motivated.
  • Ability to manage demands and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events through organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach and train Associates. [Must have a minimum one (1) year of experience as Material Handler to train others.]
  • Ability to interact well with all personality types.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent is desired. Successful completion of Competency Assessment may be considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

  • Review schedule and determine types and amounts of materials to supply to production lines
  • Transfer and stage material to the appropriate mixer staging area.
  • Stock carbon black bags according to lot numbers and raw material codes
  • Determine amounts and kinds of carbon black to be supplied to each production line
  • Visually check raw materials for contamination, miss-labeling, and quality, and report any inconsistencies, unusual conditions, or any process changes/problems to the Production Supervisor.
  • Label each skid of material with appropriate labels and record required information on labels.
  • Retrieve unused material from staging area and transfer material to the proper warehouse storage location.
  • Notify supervisor of material shortage. Document any substitutions.
  • Verbally notify supervisor of obsolete materials, damaged materials, or materials not in proper storage location.
  • Record raw material code, weight supplied and lot number on the focused storage area.
  • Maintain a list of materials to count from the supervisor, document amount of material in storage before counting, count material in storage, record amount counted and provide information to Supervisor.
  • Safety is a personal responsibility; verify that area and equipment are safe before proceeding with duties.
  • Check all safety equipment; follow all facility safety rules and procedures; wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
  • Lock-out/Tag-out procedures must be adhered to when equipment is down for repair or cleaning.
  • Ability to clean tools and maintain identified tool boards while keeping workstation and surrounding area clean and organized.
  • Keep equipment in safe operating condition, report problems to Maintenance department.
  • Participate in training of new Associates as directed by the Supervisor
  • Perform any other project/task as assigned by Management.
