About The Position

This position is responsible for executing the movement of materials, sub-assemblies, and assemblies in accordance with instructions and control documents. The role requires a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and efficiency in all warehouse and production support activities. The Material Handler will operate various equipment, manage inventory, and deliver parts to internal customers, contributing to the smooth operation of the production line.

  • High school diploma and/or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos such as cut tickets in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance, with and without the use of a calculator or computer.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and demonstrate safety as a priority in all work-related activities.
  • Receive, put-away, store, and issue parts and other materials.
  • Adequately label and maintain an organized inventory with accurate records.
  • Count, retag, and return terminals to stock/shelves.
  • Transport materials, wires, and sub-assemblies within and throughout various production departments and workstations, safeguarding them from damage.
  • Actively participate in stock counting activities such as cycle counting, location audit counts, and fiscal year-end inventory counts.
  • Maintain standards of a clean and organized work environment and inventory areas, including disposal of empty terminal reels and removal of empty barrels from production areas.
  • Operate equipment, including but not limited to forklift, pallet picker, utility truck, banding tools, corrugated compactor, pick-up truck, and other various warehouse tools and equipment as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Pick and store parts/material at ground level and heights up to 16 feet using mobile stairs, forklift, and/or pallet picker as required.
  • Deliver parts to internal customer departments in the form of parts kits, stocking, or bulk delivery, as instructed.
  • Use computer and other office technology tools to prepare and/or transact pick lists, packing lists, inventory transactions, shipping documents, and other daily requirements.
  • Monitor and document the status of completed work moving to assembly cells.
  • Work with minimum supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
