About The Position

The Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to appropriate production areas. This role is responsible for removing and sorting through salvage material and garbage from salable goods, sorting donations into appropriate bins for further processing, and providing a smooth flow of goods to the production floor. The Material Handler will also operate cardboard compactors, identify problems, maintain donor tallies, and keep the work environment clean. Demonstrating safe work practices through awareness and observation is crucial for supporting a safety culture, including reporting any potential hazards or accidents. Building and maintaining internal and external customer satisfaction is also a key responsibility. If applicable and certified, this role may involve forklift operation. Minors are not permitted to use or perform duties with heavy machinery or compactors. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required
No experience required
Ability to lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds
Developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers)
Ability to stand for long periods
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing
Ability to climb ladders
Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain)
Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills.
Maintain reliable attendance.

Responsibilities
