About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Material Handler to join our team, responsible for managing the flow of materials within our facility. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient operations, from receiving shipments to preparing materials for dispatch. The Material Handler will operate various equipment, maintain inventory accuracy, and uphold strict safety standards in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position is available for both 1st and 2nd shifts, with a premium for the 2nd shift.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and basic problem-solving skills for understanding of root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to completing tasks.
  • Capacity to maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills for job costing and input of other data crucial to tracking KPIs.
  • Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Effectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks; high physical activity.
  • Able to bend, kneel, stoop, stand, reach, climb, twist and/or crawl.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted as required.
  • Able to work in areas regularly exposed to high noise level and vibration.
  • Must be comfortable and able to perform tasks working at heights and on ladders.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities throughout the shift.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Experience with ISO standards or similar quality management systems is a plus.
  • Experience in forklift operation.
  • Experience in rigging and overhead crane operation.

Responsibilities

  • Accept incoming shipments, inspect for damages, and verify quantities against purchase orders.
  • Organize and maintain inventory in storage areas, ensuring items are easily accessible and properly labeled.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move materials safely within the facility and during the unloading and unloading of trucks.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare materials for shipment according to order specifications.
  • Conduct regular checks on materials for quality and accuracy, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, shipments, and receipts.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Keep work areas organized and clean, following proper disposal procedures for waste materials.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as shipping and receiving, to coordinate material flow.
  • Perform routine maintenance on handling equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Supply welder with necessary materials.
  • Assist with moving materials in/out of inventory and inventory cycle counts.
  • Kitting materials.
  • Load/unload plate steel and parts on and off the plasma table.
