About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for the movement of material throughout the site. This may include loading/unloading of trailers and movement of raw materials, work in process, and finished goods. This position will work on C Team, 5:50pm - 6:00am.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Must regard safety as a core value; must serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.
  • Must have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand the root cause, then communicate / educate the team in a timely manner.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5+ year’s previous material handling experience.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, mathematical aptitude, mechanical/technical aptitude and logical problem solving skills.
  • Skilled in working independently in a safe and timely manner necessary.
  • Be motivated towards productivity, safety and quality improvements.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement efforts and knowledgeable about ELS Operating Principles preferred.
  • Adaptive, flexible, able to handle ambiguity.
  • Experience working in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finished, Shipping, Receiving, and manufacturing areas.
  • Unload/load trucks/tankers with incoming/outgoing materials.
  • Verify materials against receiving/shipping documents.
  • Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System.
  • Support inventory accuracy: Complete warehouse and departmental cycles counts and correct discrepancies.
  • Help manage winding drum and rack inventories.
  • Raw/Finishing warehouse: Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets, and other consumable supplies to/from production areas as required.
  • Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Perform all assignments, duties, and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed.
  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations.
  • Lead in the recycling of pallets, cardboard, and scrap materials.
  • Support all 5S housekeeping activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
