About The Position

As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing, and storing hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision. This role prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices. You will load, unload, and process solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations. The position involves operating a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments, directing liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage, and performing basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed. You will also perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues, utilize barcode system equipment to document inventory activities, and review laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials. Additionally, you will use Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites, utilize proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks, and operate a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials. Maintaining operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition is crucial, as is utilizing knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA, and permit regulations. You will use Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers, utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, and take on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.

Requirements

  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1+ years of related experience (required)

Responsibilities
