About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for safely handling and moving all finished products as well as raw material to support the production process. This role involves reviewing production orders, ensuring correct packing materials are available, moving finished products to the staging area, and managing raw materials like skids and pallets. The Material Handler also cuts cardboard cores to specific measurements, prepares cores for production lines, and communicates production needs to coworkers. A key aspect of this role is adhering to and executing Environmental Health & Safety programs to maintain a safe and clean workplace.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • Ability to do functional math; i.e. adding, subtracting, multiplying, division.
  • Accurately read provided measuring devices.
  • High school diploma, equivalent, or previous manufacturing experience.
  • Have a valid Amcor forklift license.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with Amcor’s guidelines including wearing mandatory PPE in production areas.

Responsibilities

  • Review production orders and determine that correct packing materials are available at the line.
  • Take the finished product for shipment and then take the wrapped product to the staging area.
  • Move skids and pallets from outside the building to inside the building and place them in the designated area.
  • Move scrap filled gaylords to the recycling area and sign off on documentation.
  • Cut cardboard cores to the exact measurement for each production line where cores are needed.
  • Read work orders and prepare cores for the lines.
  • Move pallets and skids to the designated areas.
  • Verbally communicate with co-workers on production needs and process.
  • Adhere to and execute applicable Environmental Health & Safety programs to provide a safe and clean workplace.
  • Visually inspect production area for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards and maintain a clean work environment.
