Requirements

  • Grade 12 education
  • Material handling experience or injection molding experience
  • Fork Lift Handling
  • Understanding of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures related to job function
  • Forms, Tags, and Labels

Responsibilities

  • Keeping all production equipment supplied with all the materials required.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the plant floor areas and using proper procedures during clean ups.
  • Ensuring machines are kept free of spilled plastic pellets.
  • Establishing an efficient route from machine to machine, grinding area, material storage area, warehouse and assembly areas to develop awareness for immediate and upcoming material requirements.
  • Advising the supervisor immediately if a task cannot be attended to or completed as required.
  • Ensuring that materials are consumed in FIFO (first in, first out).
  • Keeping machine hoppers full, covered, and grinders emptied out at all times.
  • Ensuring the correct material is being used for the job by consulting the Operation Instruction and/or set-up sheet.
  • Blending color concentrate when required.
  • Ensuring the maximum allowable regrind is being consumed in each molding process.
  • Ensuring all hoppers and dryers are covered at all times and identified with the proper Material ID Tag (if applicable).
  • Promptly grinding material and emptying grinder buckets periodically before overflow.
  • Ensuring virgin and regrind material are covered and stored in separate containers clearly marked.
  • Returning all unused material to the raw material inventory.
  • Communicating with the Material Handlers on the next shift to coordinate/anticipate mold changes and required tasks.
  • Notifying Supervisor immediately if any items are low in inventory to avoid potential shortage.
  • Breaking down empty gaylords.
  • Ensuring all products (where applicable) are scanned before being moved to the warehouse.
  • Removing and storing all packaging and components in the approved area when a job is not running.
  • Removing garbage in the cell before the end of the shift.
  • Turning off the loader to stop material feed.
  • If required, draining out remaining material from the loader or dryer and placing it back into storage prior to the next production run.
  • Disassembling the loader or dryer and cleaning it of all previous material.
  • Inspecting the loader or dryer to ensure all pellets and dust have been removed.
  • Reassembling the loader or dryer.
  • Ensuring the correct material ID chip (if applicable) has been placed on the dryer or loader.
  • Ensuring the dryer log sheet has been updated to the new material or lot.
  • Turning off the main power switch and unplugging the grinder and locking out the main disconnect.
  • If required, removing remaining regrind from the drawer and storing it in the raw material storage area.
  • Using a vacuum to thoroughly clean the drawer and corners of the drawer of all particles.
  • Disassembling the grinder, ensuring blades and screen are free of previous material using a vacuum.
  • Replacing and tightening all articles that were removed.
  • Sweeping the grinder area to ensure all pellets have been removed.
  • Plugging the grinder in and turning on the main power switch to proceed with grinding.
