About The Position

Handles and moves material, components, and products through departments and facility. This role involves locating and delivering materials, consolidating and kitting component parts, operating a forklift and pallet jack, identifying and labeling inventory, verifying inventory records, unloading and receiving raw materials, and assisting with packing and crating products for transport. The Material Handler must adhere to the business management system (BMS) and assist with other duties as assigned. The position requires the ability to read and understand instructions, knowledge of fabricated sheet metal products, raw materials, and supplies, advanced knowledge of fork truck operation and safety, basic to intermediate math, computer, and communication skills, general knowledge of stretch wrapping and metal banding processes, the ability to recognize and identify products, and the ability to coordinate needs and schedules per the production schedule. The role also involves daily inspection and preventative maintenance of the fork truck. Physical exposure includes frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, and lifting, occasional lifting or sliding of up to 50 lbs, exposure to oils/solvents on materials, sharp edges on parts or material, and constant fork truck traffic.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions
  • Knowledge of fabricated sheet metal products, raw materials and supplies
  • Advanced knowledge of fork truck operation and safety
  • Basic to intermediate math, computer, and written/verbal communication skills
  • General knowledge of stretch wrapping and metal banding processes
  • Ability to recognize and identify product
  • Coordinate needs and schedules per production schedule
  • Consolidate component parts as needed
  • Understand prints, process sheets, and other documents
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, and lifting
  • Occasional lifting or sliding of up to 50 lbs
  • Exposure to oils/solvents on materials
  • Exposure to sharp edges on parts or material
  • Awareness of constant fork truck traffic

Responsibilities

  • Locate and deliver materials, parts and components listed on production orders
  • Consolidate and kit component parts as directed
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack to move product
  • Identify, label, and record locations to maintain organization
  • Verify inventory, record, and make necessary adjustments
  • Unload & receive raw material as needed
  • Assist with packing, crating, and securing product for transport
  • Adhere to business management system (BMS), as applicable
  • Assist with any other duties as assigned
  • Daily inspection and preventative maintenance of fork truck
