About The Position

Susquehanna Printing Company is seeking a part-time Night Shift Material Handler. The role handles, stacks, packages, and distributes pre-printed inserts and printed products, and feeds inserts into a machine. The position is 20 hours per week, normally working Wednesday and Thursday nights from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m., with occasional Fridays as needed.

The work takes place in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment and may include overtime as necessary. The employee must be able to stand throughout an entire shift. The role requires a strong sense of urgency, teamwork, communication, and adaptability, along with honesty, integrity, respect, a professional demeanor, attention to detail, and willingness to learn and assist co-workers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Feeding experience is required.
• Ability to stand throughout an entire shift.
• Availability to work Wednesday and Thursday nights from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m., with occasional Fridays as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with forklifts and dollies.
• Experience with basic office equipment such as calculators and computers.
• Proficiency with non-powered hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a focus on safety and injury prevention for oneself and co-workers, and promptly address or report unsafe conditions to management.
• Retrieve production materials and place them in appropriate locations using material-moving equipment safely.
• Jog and feed pre-printed materials into machine feed hoppers.
• Stack bundles of printed products off the press, monitor quality, and prepare bundles for subsequent production steps or distribution.
• Build product skids evenly and accurately according to required quantities.
• Load newspaper bundles into carts by zone, moving empty cages out and full cages in while maintaining product flow.
• Wrap finished product using an automated stretch-wrap machine.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, communicate effectively, work accurately and efficiently, and keep the work environment neat and clean.
• Learn new skills and tasks, assist co-workers when possible, and perform other duties as required.
• Work weekday and weekend overtime when requested.
