About The Position

The Material Handler works in the Production department, unloading donations from containers and moving goods to appropriate production areas. The role sorts donations and salvage, supports the flow of goods to the production floor, maintains donor tallies and a clean work area, and follows safe work practices. Forklift-related duties apply only when the employee is certified to Seattle Goodwill standards. Pay is $18.25–$20.55 per hour, depending on experience (DOE).

Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years or older.
No experience is required.
High school graduation or equivalency is preferred but not required.
Able to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing, including people with limited English skills.
Able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

Seattle Goodwill forklift certification, if applicable to the job role and eligibility requirements are met.

Responsibilities

Unload donations from containers and move goods to appropriate production areas.
Remove and sort salvage material and garbage from salable goods.
Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing.
Provide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor.
Use cardboard compactors and identify problems.
Maintain donor tallies.
Maintain a clean work environment.
Follow safe work practices, observe safety requirements, and report potential hazards or accidents.
Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
When certified to Seattle Goodwill standards, safely perform duties associated with forklift operation, if applicable.
Maintain reliable attendance.
Communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing, including people with limited English skills.
Perform other duties and activities as assigned.
