About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory of raw materials, staging materials and tools for the weld department, and ensuring efficient material movement throughout the facility. This role requires close collaboration with the KPO office and lead hands to manage schedules and material flow. The Material Handler will also be responsible for adhering to work instructions, safe work procedures, and supporting the 6S program for a clean and organized work area. This position involves significant mobility, including walking, and the use of manual pallet jacks and wheeled carts. A tow motor license is preferred.

Requirements

  • Able to use computer for transactions.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Able to lift a maximum of 50lbs.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency required.
  • Demonstrated ability to be successful in team-based operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Lift and tow motor license preferred
  • Read Blueprint drawings
  • Production line experience.
  • Industry experience.
  • Knowledge of Visual is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Keep accurate inventory of raw material in designated area.
  • Take instructions for weld department supervisor for staging the fixtures, parts and tools at the work centre.
  • Able to understand schedule and work closely with KPO office and lead hands to efficient material movement.
  • Move material between work centres.
  • Ensure work instructions and safe work procedures are followed.
  • Work as a team to ensure completion of product in a timely manner.
  • Clean and maintain work area by supporting 6S program.
  • High mobility (walking) and capable of using manual pallet jack and moving wheeled carts.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the OSHA, regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Using or wearing the equipment, PPE that Blue Giant requires.
  • Reporting to his or her supervisor any contravention of the OSHA, regulations, or Blue Giant policies and procedures.
  • Reporting any observed hazards to the supervisor.
  • Reporting any risks or potential risks of violence or harassment encountered in the workplace immediately to supervisor.
  • Not removing or making ineffective any protective device without providing an adequate temporary substitute. When the work is completed, the original protective device must be replaced immediately.
  • Not using or operating any equipment, machine, device or thing or otherwise working in a manner that may endanger anyone.
  • Knowing, understanding and implementing safe work practices and procedures.
  • Attend all required Health and Safety training programs (ex: WHMIS, orientation), and applying knowledge to daily operating procedures at Blue Giant.
