About The Position

This full-time position operates clamp truck and forklift equipment to company standards. Responsibilities include receiving rollstock and other raw materials according to company procedures, unloading and loading trucks and rail cars, and operating Bander, Hand Bander, and Conveyor Line as needed. The role also involves assisting other Material Handlers, Shipping Personnel, and Clamp Drivers, and maintaining an organized warehouse. New hires will train on the 1st shift for 2-4 weeks before transitioning to the 2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 1:30 PM-10:00 PM).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior forklift experience required.
  • Must be able to pass basic forklift and clamp truck training.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to read tape measures and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate clamp truck and forklift equipment to company standards.
  • Receive rollstock and other raw materials by company procedures.
  • Unload and load trucks and rail cars as necessary.
  • Operate Bander, Hand Bander, and Conveyor Line as needed.
  • Assist Material Handlers, Shipping Personnel, and Clamp Drivers.
  • Keep warehouse organized.
  • Work Safely – report all unsafe conditions and/or near misses immediately to your Supervisor.
  • Report any property damage that occurred while operating lift equipment.
  • Maintain a clean work area – keep docks picked up, aisle ways clean and swept, bander area clean and empty trash as required.
  • Keep all converting equipment lines full, ensuring machines do not wait on product.
  • Read and understand the production schedule – keep Supervisor informed in advance of issues.
  • Work efficiently, handling bales only once, minimizing any forklift damage.
  • Cut and remove banding and dunnage for machines as directed.
  • Operate and maintain fork truck equipment as required.
  • Perform Fork Lift inspection daily at the beginning of your shift as required by OSHA.
  • Communicate all relevant information to oncoming shift prior to leaving.
  • Follow all LOTO procedures for loading and unloading trailers.
  • Process, tag, and store incoming raw materials as required.
  • Inspect all incoming and outgoing product and supplies and document for defects.
  • Inventory and organize finished products.
  • Perform all documentation as assigned, i.e. load verification form.
  • Shred waste materials – properly weigh and identify load.
  • Operate plant PCs and appropriate systems to complete assigned tasks.
  • Enter Maintenance Work Requests – for Safety, Scheduled and Unscheduled tasks as needed.
  • Rework any bales or pallets of finished goods that have been spilled or are potentially unsafe.
  • Work with other Fork Lift drivers as a team and communicate accordingly.
  • Follow plant procedures on tracking waste bales; place all quarantined product into quarantine area.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
